I met someone last week. Impromptu and unplanned, it was a Divine kind of meeting. Like God had arranged it and both me and my new friend had no idea He was in control.

So we talked and talked eternal things. Words came out of my mouth like, “You know God has His hand on you for some really big things” and “His anointing on you is for Godly leadership.” And a set of eyes looked back at me like they had never been hungrier.

I finally understood that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled.

And his teenage face practically cried out for the more of Heaven. He was hungry and lost and unidentified in this sin stained world and God had sent me (me!) to be His messenger of hope. His slave of righteousness. His hands and feet.

The Lord just wants His people to be willing. He will always do the rest.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?. . .You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-16

So my heart beat fast as I realized the importance of the moment and the Presence of the Holy Spirit all around us. It was almost as if we were standing on holy ground and eternal things hung in the balance.

And it didn’t matter that I had no idea what to say, all that mattered was that Jesus was obviously in control and I was an empty vessel.

And if I didn’t know before, I knew when I naively mentioned Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. . . you know them, right? A blank stare and sad eyes responded all I needed to know. I knew that this person needed Jesus, but had no idea Who He was. So there I stood, unable to find the next word that would make sense of the previous word and my heart pounded within me that Jesus, I really need Your help right now because here is one of Your kids and I don’t think they know a thing about You.

So my purpose for existence was defined yet again. I was created to be the Church and yet I felt caught off guard when He asked me to be just what He created me to be.

Does that make sense or am I rambling? Because I just feel that the Church is content to train the church up without walking outside and being Who God identified us to be: ambassadors, salt, light, hope, messengers of righteousness.

In 1 Peter we find one of Jesus’ best friends urging us to be ready and prepared for all occasions:

“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give the reason for the hope that you have. . .” 1 Peter 3:15

My friends, we have within us the answer to every hurt, every pain, every problem this scratched and sin stained world vomits up. We have the hope! We have the love! We have the forgiveness! We have the Presence!

It is always and forever all about Jesus.

So it’s time that we start doing something about that. It’s time that we start acting like the ambassadors of Heaven that we are. It’s time that we stop allowing the enemy to dictate our action and instead, take back what is rightfully our God’s.

Every person. Every city. Every nation. It is all our God’s. We are the heirs of the throne. Friends, let us do something about the lost. Let us stand up for the weak. Let us search out the strays! Find within you the voice that says you are able and strong and mighty and courageous and righteous! Because our Jesus has already defeated death with Love. We are just the friendly reminders that His grace never fails.

So my heart continued to beat fast as I talked with my new friend. His thirteen years of life boasted more hurt, abandonment, and pain than a man who lived 90 years. A heart beating and breaking all at once is quite the feeling and I kind of understood in that moment what our Jesus feels towards each one of us. . .I desperately wanted this young boy to know Him.

With a boldness that could’ve only come from Heaven, I fumbled the words that I wish I asked more often, Have you ever entered into a relationships with Jesus? And the silence and his answer of no, ma’am I don’t think so, just about wrecked me. Because if the Church isn’t asking these life altering questions who will?

How will this child ever know about Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John if he doesn’t even know Jesus?

And how will he know Jesus if we don’t tell him?

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.” John 10:14-16

As I drove home that night, my car was filled with a combination of tears, anger, loud prayer, and praise. The Lord was so patient with me as He walked me through His own feelings of desire for all of His children to come Home. He showed me what righteous anger felt like— not on my watch will my city, will this generation, go to hell! He showed me what intercession looked like—Jesus, stir within his heart! Draw near to him! Wash him with Your immeasurable love! He showed me what praise looked like— Father, You are King of all! Thank You that You are bringing forth salvation! Thank You that this boy is a Kingdom shaker and will tell nations of Your unending love!

He showed me that I am to bear a burden for the Church to do something—anything!— to reach those that don’t know Him.

My friends, we were created for more than a surface level life of work, friends, and getting filled up on Sundays. There are millions around us, even within our own homes, that do not know Jesus. Let’s allow our eyes and hearts to be opened to the more that our King has in store.

Intimacy and relationship with Him, our Savior. Adventure and boldness with Him, our God. Prayer and intercession with Him, our Holy Spirit.

It’s on us. Praise God, how humbled we are! It’s on us! To be the light. To be the salt. To be the reflection of our King! For His glory and His renown we are the priesthood!

Praise be to our amazing God!

“You don’t have to wait for the End. I am, right now, Resurrection and Life. The one who believes in me, even though he or she dies, will live. And everyone who lives believing in me does not ultimately die at all. Do you believe this?” John 11:25

So you wonder what to do next? We ask for more courage and boldness, Jesus! We ask for opportunity! We ask for salvation! We claim our homes, our cities, our nations for the Kingdom of Heaven! We ask for a sensitivity to your Spirit and a heart for Your people! Bring Your children Home!

Because that is what our lives are about— proclaiming Your love and Your hope to every crevice of this rotating earth! Thank You, Father, for such an honor.

Today, this beginning of the week, let’s love Him enough to tell others about Him. And let’s love others enough to not allow another day to go by without sharing something eternal.

It’s a life and death thing. But for us, we choose life. Life eternal. Life forever! Jesus- the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

So not on our watch will this world go to hell.

In the powerful Name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we press on!
